Fishing for People (and for fish).
Fishing for People (and for fish).

I exist to glorify God by enjoying God.  My mission is to make more and better disciples by echoing Jesus’ twofold “Yes” from God and to God.  I am an ordained Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) serving as the Phillips Talbot Global Ministry Fellow at Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York, NY.  My wife and I just returned from a year and a half living, traveling, and learning in Africa and Asia, where we met and studied under some of the most effective disciple-makers alive today.  We moved to Zambia to study Church Planting, in hopes of leavening the American Church with the contagious Spirit of African Christianity.

I studied at Davidson College (B.S. Math) and Duke University (M. Div.).  I have worked discipling unchurched high schoolers, selling cars, teaching high school math, shepherding congregations, and training lay ministers.  I have worked in 2 countries, 3 states, 5 congregations, and a dozen parachurch ministries.

I love Jesus, my wife, woods, fishing, slow smoked meats, front porches, long conversations, working hard, acoustic guitars, competing, figuring it out, and laughing all the way.
